logging allows us to clearcut or selectively log timber with fewer roads and very little disturbance to the ground."

Skyline logging has been around for many years.  It's used extensively in Oregon and for coastal logging, but it is just starting to catch on in the interior.  Skyline logging is effective for harvesting steep terrain where feller bunchers and skidders cannot operate.  The ability to harvest selectively on steep slopes has allowed Vavenby to access timber on visible portions of their operating area that were avoided until now.
